Socialism Saturday is a weekly stream at 6pm eastern time where we watch real socialists, communists and Marxists - the furthest of the far left - to understand what they believe and what they are planning.
Join me live on these platforms:
Earlier this year, a Marxist got elected to head the American Library Association. This has resulted in a national controversy that has led to states cutting ties with the association and a replacement forming to compete with them.
So, what does ALA president Emily Drabinski believe? We’ll learn tonight on Socailism Saturday. Here’s what we’re watching:
Oh, man, I’ve never been so sorry to miss a live stream in the moment. I woulda regulated Rumble for ya, lol.
1) On Civil Rights vs 60s radicalism, check Ryan Chapman’s YouTube on the New Left. He does a great job of laying out the differences.

MLKJr has been claimed by both the right and the left, because he publicly identified as both at different stages. In his early career, like most blacks of the time, he was Republican - the party of Lincoln and Emancipation. Through the process of Civil Rights, he said he would and did affiliate with the party that passed Civil Rights. Though Democrats got it done, after the civil rights act was passed, Communists agitated harder than anyone else for follow through, because the more they could highlight the disparities, the more it served their push for Revolution. And by that time, communists already had 30 years of history of supporting Poot blacks in the south by paying rent, utilities, helping with child needs, etc. It’s pretty rational from that perspective. He was fighting for his people first.
2) Indoctrination by culture. This is so true. Here in NorCal, specifically SF, Oakland and Berkeley, the woke has had a death grip since the 60s. The inner city kids for two generations have been raised to believe that the system oppresses them because all the 60s radicals graduated and went into teaching and social work. So why do smash and grabs happen here, in their back yards? Because two generations have been told through pop culture, schools, and “community” groups and associations that capitalism is wrong, property can’t be owned, because it’s all illegitimately stolen anyway, and profits are evil (probably why the local gangs are the most pro-capital in the Bay Area - they ALL about the hustle). Smash and grab isn’t wrong, it’s taking back what’s due.
Omg, GREAT stream. I’ll try harder to make these in person.
